You can install
Blaupunkt satellite navigation!
Installing GPS satellite
navigation in place of an existing car radio has never
been easier with the latest 'E' series of Blaupunkt
TravelPilot navigation systems.
Until now, vehicle navigation systems
required a connection to the vehicle's GALA
electronic-speed pulse signal, normally used to run the electronic
speedometer. This was often difficult to locate in the
dozens of wires of a modern vehicle wiring loom.
|
|
|
With Blaupunkt's new gyroscope
technology, fast processors and advanced software, this
GALA signal connection is no longer a requirement, making installing satellite
navigation as straightforward as replacing a
conventional car radio.
If you're growing tired of your old
fashioned aftermarket, or poorly-featured factory-fitted
radio, for the first time it is now a realistic
proposition to replace it with a fully featured radio CD
receiver that also includes an industry-leading GPS
navigation system.
Just follow our five step guide: |
 |

Step 1 : Remove existing radio
Removing the existing radio is
often the hardest part of the whole process!
Removal
keys for popular models of factory-fitted radio are
available from our website.
If your radio is an
aftermarket model, keys would usually be included with
the radio |
 |
|
Step 2 : Place the GPS antenna
All our systems are supplied with
a high quality Bosch GPS antenna and 5.5m of cable.
The aerial itself is smaller than a matchbox and on most
vehicles receives a good GPS signal from inside the car,
placed at the bottom of the windscreen.
If the windscreen is highly raked
and reception inside the vehicle poor, the aerial can be
mounted outside the vehicle or on the back parcel shelf.
The aerial has a magnetic base; self-tapping screws and
sticky pads are also included giving a wide choice of mounting
options. Thread the aerial wire through to the radio
opening in the dashboard. |
 |
|
Step 3 : Fit wiring and/or fascia
adaptor (if needed)
Some
vehicles have a dashboard opening larger than the DIN
standard size of almost all aftermarket radios. To give
your new system a 'factory-fitted' look, a fascia adaptor
may be required.
Similarly, although many vehicle manufacturers are
now conforming to the ISO standard of radio wiring
connections, for those that do not a wiring adaptor will
be required.
To determine if either are needed for your vehicle, see
our guide .
(If the factory-fitted radio in your vehicle has already
been replaced, chances are that the required
modifications have already been carried out.) |
 |
Step 4 : Plug in Blaupunkt E
TravelPilot navigation system
The job is almost complete - all
that remains is to fit the navigation system's mounting
sleeve and plug in the power & speaker ISO
connectors, GPS antenna cable and radio aerial into the
sockets at the back of the
TravelPilot navigation system.
Connectors are keyed, so its hard
to get them the wrong way around! |
 |
Step 5 : Finished!
That's really all there is to it.
Push the new navigation system home in the dashboard,
insert the navigation map CD-ROM included with your
system and away you go.
The system auto-calibrates and after driving just a
couple of miles will be ready to start guiding you
around.
We run a free technical
helpline and will be pleased to assist customers should
they need help at any stage of the process. |
